Need help from Travelography?

Submission Guidelines for photographers

We are always looking for top quality images to add to Travelography. Please use the submission guidelines below to submit your images. And please remember to submit at least 50 images in each submission that you make.

Image Preparation

  • Check your digital camera is capable of producing a 17MB image (minimum).
  • Interpolate your images to a minimum of 45 MB using recognised software such as Adobe Photoshop.
  • Upsize your images in one increment only to avoid deterioration.
  • Clean all images to remove imperfections.
  • Make basic colour adjustments where appropriate but please DO NOT sharpen or apply colour filters to your images.

Transparencies (slides) that have been professionally scanned on a drum or flat bed scanner are also acceptable. They must have a minimum size of 45MB and a maximum of 100MB at 300 pixels per inch. Monochrome images are acceptable too.

Saving your images

  • Please submit your images in Tiff file format of no less than 45 MB and 300 pixels per inch with no LZW compression.
  • Embed images with Adobe RGB 1998 colour profile.
  • Save images in PC byte order, in RGB 8 bit colour (not CMYK or converted from CMYK).
  • Save files in a destination folder, eg Paris.

Image naming and captioning

  1. Please name each image with no more than 20 alphanumeric characters.
  2. Include file information (IPTC data) within each image to enable our customers to locate their specific needs. It is important that the information is accurate and concise.
  3. In Adobe Photoshop the “File info” screen from the file menu provides the means to add IPTC info and the following fields should be completed as indicated:
  4. Author: enter your name
  5. Description: the continent, country, location and a two or three word description of the subject, eg Europe, England, London, Houses of Parliament
  6. Keywords: enter about 15 or 20 words maximum that will help a customer to find your image. These can elaborate on the Description field but should not repeat any words in it (our search engine scans both fields) eg UK, EU, capital, city, Palace of Westminster, river, Thames, Big, Ben, clock, tower, buildings, architecture etc.
  7. Copyright Status: use the drop down box to enter >Copyrighted
  8. Copyright Notice: enter >Copyright< followed by your name or Company name

Step 5: Submitting your images

We accept images on DVD, CD, flash pen drive or hard disks (which are not driver dependent). Hard disks and flash pen drives will be returned immediately at their owner’s risk. DVDs and CDs will not be returned.

Your chosen storage media should contain a folder with your contact details: name, address, postcode, telephone number and email. After your first submission you need only supply your name.

Once you have made a submission

We will review your images for quality control. If we accept your first submission we will send you 2 copies of our non-exclusive Contributor Contract signed on behalf of Travelography. You will need to sign and return one copy to us.

Once your signed Contract is received by Travelography we will process the images we have decided to use and upload them for sale on Travelography.co.uk.
